When I am cooking, I feel think I am constantly asking my Alexa for measurement breakdowns. So, here is a breakdown to help measure how many ounces are in a cup?
For more information on measuring, continue below ….
How Many Teaspoons in a Tablespoon?
There are 3 Teaspoon in 1 Tablespoon. However, I know that I will never remember that, so I posted the number along with several other measurements in a chart below that I found in the article “How Many Teaspoons in a Tablespoon:” from Healthier Steps. I found this article to be very helpful and informative, but I also usually find the conversion to grams to be helpful so I added that information in as well.
Note: I do not find myself using milliliters so I took that out. I do not find myself using teaspoon to tablespoon as frequently either, but just kept it in just in case I needed it I kept it in there. The abreviation for tablespoons being tbsp and teaspoon is tsp if your are looking for tsp to tbsp or how many tsp in a tbsp?
CUPS | OUNCES | TABLESPOONS | GRAMS | TEASPPONS |
1 | 8 | 16 | 226.796 | 48 |
3/4 | 6 | 12 | 170.097 | 36 |
2/3 | 5 | 11 | 141.748 | 32 |
1/2 | 4 | 8 | 113.398 | 24 |
1/3 | 5 | 8 | 85.0486 | 16 |
1/4 | 2 | 4 | 56.699 | 12 |
1/8 | 1 | 2 | 28.3495 | 6 |
1/16 | .5 | 1 | 14.1748 | 3 |
Note: To calculate grams to ounces, which I feel like I need to do all of the time, I just google grams to oz and used the calculator that popped up.
In my research, I also found this quick reference guide in the article “How Many Teaspoons in a Tablespoon? (Chart) ” from Elizabeth Rider to be very helpful
How many teaspoons in a tablespoon? | 3 teaspoon = 1 tablespoon |
How many teaspoons in a tablespoon? | 6 teaspoons = 2 tablespoons |
How many tablespoons in ¼ cup? | 4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup |
How many tablespoons in 1 cup? | 16 tablespoons = 1 cup |
Elizabeth Rider further explains in the article that the two most important measurements are:
- 3 Teaspoons in 1 Tablespoon and
- 4 Tablespoons in 1/4 Cup
I personally feel I am frequently converting grams to ounces, ounces to cups and tablespoons to cups . I do not know why, but feel like I am always do so. Therefore, I think the most important measurements are:
- 4 Tablespoons in 1/4 Cup
- 8 ounces in 1 Cup and
- 28.3495 grams in 1 Ounce
The last one being a bit cumbersome, but I do find that I need it often.
I also found the article “How Many Teaspoons in a Tablespoon? Measurement Conversion Chart” from MasterClass very interesting because it gives the weight of a tablespoon of sugar since tablespoons only measure volume and not mass. I guess to get this info, I would measure out a tablespoon of sugar and then dumbed the sugar on a scale to get the weight, but I never would have so I find this very helpful and I am glad to know it without having to do the work. According to the article, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar weighs about 12½ grams
In conclusion, find that I am, constantly asking my Alexa about How Many Teaspoons in a Tablespoon? How Many Tablespoons Are In A Cup? How Many Ounces Are in A Cup? I find this information very difficult to retain. Hopefully I am not the only one and this will help you in the kitchen as well. Enjoy.
