Acai Bowl Recipes

Acai Bowl Recipes

I think I had my first Acai Bowl on a trip in my 20’s to San Diego. It was fantastic and I always thought it was full of calories. However, now that I am doing this blog, I decided to go on an exploration to find Low-Calorie Acai Bowl Recipes to enjoy for a Low-Calorie Breakfast. I tend to try and stay between 200 and 400 calories for breakfast depending on if I am dieting or trying to maintain my weight. In this search, I learned there are plenty of options to choose from to stay within that calorie range.

Acai bowls are particularly amazing to add to my vault of recipes because they are quick and easy to make. And, you can make them ahead of time and even freeze them for future use. I heard you only need to give them 15 or 20 minutes to let them thaw out and the acai bowl will be ready. It is always nice to have something on standby for those mornings you forget or did not have time to prepare for.

What Are Acai Berries?

According to the article What are acai berries, and what are their possible health benefits? from Mayo Clinic, acai berries are grapelike fruit from South America and are considered to be a superfood because they could have components that may help with arthritis, weight loss, high cholesterol, erectile dysfunction, skin appearance, detoxification, general health and more. However, there is limited research on acai berries so the health benefits are not proven.

How Do I Make An Acai Bowl With Less Sugar And Less Calories?

Acai bowls can wind up being very high in calories and sugar. To avoid that, first, I try to watch my portions, especially with the toppings. For example, I love granola and peanut butter both of which can really pack on the calories. Second, I try to manage the ingredients by making small changes such as using berries instead of bananas. I try to limit the use of bananas because they are high in sugar, but it is challenging because I almost always want bananas.

Where do I Find Acai Puree?

Some of these recipes use Acai Puree? Where do I find it? I had no idea so I google it and Acai Puree seems to be available everywhere such as Walmart, Wholefoods, Amazon, maybe your grocery store.
